The Raiders are pleased to announce their visual staff for the 2017 season...
Cameron Willey has been involved in the Marching Arts for over 20 years, with experience with a variety of ensembles, including Parkside High School (MD), the Milton Hershey School, and was the founding Director of Chesapeake Percussion. In 2012 and 13 he was a member of the Plate line with the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle Corps, winning gold in Cymbal Ensemble both years.
Cameron joined the Raiders staff in 2015 as a Visual tech and returned in 2016 as the Visual Caption Head. This season he adds the role of Drill Designer for the Raiders as well as being a member of the design team.
Adam Twombly, A native and resident of Middlefield, Connecticut, graduated from Coginchaug Regional High School and is currently completing his Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at Central Connecticut State University. During his tenure at Central, Adam has performed with the wind ensemble, pep band, brass quintet, trombone ensemble, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, and marching band, where he served as Drum Major in 2015.
Adam was a marching member of the 7Th regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and currently is on the staff of Trumbull High School (CT). Adam returns for his second season as a member of the visual staff for the Raiders this season.
Andrea "Midge" Hrycyshyn been in the colorguard activity since 1999, including 10 years as a performing member in Drum Corps and Winterguard. She has had the opportunity to perform as a member of Jersey Surf, Boston Crusaders, Black Watch, and Pride of Cincinnati.
Midge spent the 2015 season with 7th Regiment and then 2016 with the Colorguard staff of the Raiders, as well as serving as an instructor for the Visual Ensemble for United Percussion. She joins the Visual staff full time this season, focusing on movement for the Brass and Percussion sections.
In the “real world”, Andrea is a Special Education Art teacher in Philadelphia, Pa.
Derek Sexton is a native of Rome NY and a 2016 graduate of SUNY Oswego with a BA in Journalism; and also Brother of Mu Beta Psi, National Honorary Musical Fraternity.
He spent the 2013 and 2015 seasons as a hornline member of the 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and currently serves as the drumline instructor for the Rome Free Academy in Rome NY and is also on the Winter Percussion staff this coming season.
Carlos Esquivel returns to the Raiders staff after being on the visual team for a total of 7 seasons between 1993-2010, including serving as a Coordinator for 2 of those seasons.
A graduate of Elizabeth HS in Elizabeth, NJ, Carlos has performed as a member of the Masquerade, Raiders and Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps.
Since 1998, he has served as Assistant Band Director of the Union HS Marching Band in Union NJ. He is excited for the opportunity to return to the instructional staff of The Raiders.
Lauren Buzdygon a graduate of the University of Delaware, majoring in Music Education as a saxophonist. Her marching career includes multiple seasons as a member of the Tuba section of the Jersey Surf, Imperial Dynasty Percussion’s cymbal line, and as a member of the Bushwackers Drum and Bugle corps in 2014-16, playing Tuba, Mellophone and Cymbals. Lauren is currently an elementary school teacher in Greenbelt, MD.
Michelle Russo started her marching career as a trumpet player for the Union High School marching band, marching the 2006-2011 fall seasons, and became involved with drum corps in 2010. Michelle marched with the Raiders DBC in 2010 and 2013 on trumpet, and went on to march with the Bluecoats in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Michelle is currently pursuing her master's in Psychology, and hopes to continue playing trumpet throughout her graduate career.
Michelle has been teaching as a visual instructor for the Union High School marching band since 2014, bringing home a state and national championship in 2014, as well as best visual awards in 2014 and 2015. She is ecstatic to be joining the Raiders visual staff for her first year!
