Jack Kaplan Returns For 2nd Season As Drum Major!
The Raiders are pleased to welcome Jack Kaplan in the drum major role for a second season! Jack was faced with the obstacle of filling the drum major position in April of last season. He worked extremely hard and went on to be a great leader and an inspiration to the entire Raiders membership. "I am extremely excited to be returning to the Raiders for a second season as the Drum Major. Coming back from both my rookie season with the Raiders and in
drum corps in general, I am really looking forward to the weeks ahead cannot wait for the competitive part of the season to begin." Jack got his start as a member of the Hillsborough High School Marching Band, where he was a member of the drumline before being promoted to the drum major position for his junior and senior year. "The experience I gained with Hillsborough helped me to reach my goal of being a part of the Raiders organization. My time here with the Raiders has taught me that through hard work and dedication, anything can be achieved."
"The Raven: A Descent Into Madness!"
The Raiders are pleased to announce their 2013 program entitled “The Raven: A Descent Into Madness.” Based on Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven,” the show will feature original music written by Key Poulan, Michael Huestis, and Jason Medeiros. The visual aspects of the show will be developed by drill designer Peter ReHill and color guard designer Anthony Tanasy. “The Raven: A Descent Into Madness” follows the unnamed narrator of Poe’s poem as he relives the heartbreak associated with the loss of his love. The eponymous raven antagonizes the narrator, whose life begins to spiral into a madness so deep, he is unable to deal with his grief, unable to distinguish reality from fantasy, or life from death.
