What Does it Take to be a Raider?

 

At the beginning of every season every position is available. You do not have to be a world class performer to be a member of the Raiders.

Membership is based upon the following factors:

  • Dedication
  • Willingness and ability to learn
  • Talent
  • Physical fitness
  • Ability to meet all time commitments and financial requirements

While talent is an important factor, we are most interested in an individual who is willing to learn and work hard to improve. This is the type of member who has helped place the Raiders among the best corps in the history of DCI Open Class.

Auditions for the corps take place over the course of several camps. You will be given material to work on and will be worked on at the next camp to help measure your ability to grow and learn. It is not vital that you attend each camp, but it is in your best interest to attend every possible camp so that you can get the best and fairest evaluation from our staff.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

WEEKEND CAMP DATES

NOVEMBER 24-26
DECEMBER 15-17
JANUARY 12-14
FEBRUARY 9-11
MARCH 16-18

AUDITION FEES

Registration Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
- Everyone is required to pay this fee prior to auditioning

Camp Fee: $40
- Due at each camp from November thru May

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP

Rehearsal/Sleeping

  • Instrument/Guard equipment
  • 1 Gal water jug (BLUE)
  • Athletic sneakers (no flat shoes)
  • Comfortable rehearsal clothes: t-shirts, athletic shorts, a hat 
  • Jacket and sweatpants 
  • Backpack, Music, pencils
  • 3 ring binder and sheet protectors 

Percussion 

  • Sticks/mallets, a drum (if possible)
  • Ear plugs
  • Practice Pad

Brass

  • Gloves
  • Black towel that fits the size of your instrument

Sleeping

  • Sleeping bag and/or air mattress
  • Pillow
  • Comfortable sleeping clothes
  • Toiletries including body wash, deodorant, chapstick, toothbrush, a towel
  • Flip flops for use while in the shower

Paperwork

  • Medical Information Release Form
  • Child Care Authorization Form (if under 18)
